Billie McKay Makes History as the First Two-Time Winner

Returning Contestant Brent Draper Takes Home Top Prize of $250,000

After three dramatic months in the kitchen, Billie McKay has been crowned the MasterChef Australia 2023 winner. In a nail-biting finale, McKay faced off against returning contestant Brent Draper, with both cooks delivering exceptional dishes.

McKay made history as the first person to win MasterChef Australia twice, having previously won the competition in 2011. Her victory marks a remarkable achievement, as she becomes the only person to have won the title on multiple occasions.

Draper, who was a fan favorite from the previous season, put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short of the top prize. He took home the $250,000 prize money, while McKay also received a cookbook deal and a travel grant.

The finale featured a series of intense challenges, including a pressure test and a three-course meal cook-off. McKay impressed the judges with her creativity, precision, and ability to handle pressure. Her winning menu included a smoked salmon tartare, a lamb loin with smoked eggplant, and a strawberry and rhubarb tart.

Draper also showcased his culinary skills, but his dishes were slightly less refined than McKay's. He presented a seared scallops with cauliflower puree, a pan-seared barramundi with mussel and chorizo broth, and a chocolate and hazelnut tart.
